STOKE legend Denis Smith made 407 appearances for the Potters between 1966 and 1982.

The Potteries-born defender's no-nonsense approach made him a hero among the Stoke faithful.

After leaving Stoke, Smith forged a career in management and has taken the helm of six teams - York City, Sunderland, Bristol City, Oxford United, West Bromwich Albion, and Wrexham.
