WELL, that was refreshing. A far more attractive line-up saw Stoke take the game to the home side and should have had it won by half-time.
A similar attitude in the second period saw Ricardo Fuller have Blackburn’s defence in all sorts of trouble, but we somehow couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net.
Rovers had their chances too, and in the end I was pleased with a well-deserved point. Overall, a good team performance from Stoke.

AFTER last week’s below-par performance and questionable team choice, I am not sure we knew what to expect at Ewood Park.
The team choice was a pleasant surprise, but I think the fans were split by the inclusion of Sidibe instead of Tuncay or Beattie.
This was much better than last week and both sides had chances as we went for the win and didn’t sit back.
The ref, dressed in a fluorescent orange top, made some strange decisions. He seemed intent on helping Blackburn get something out of the game.
They are a good side at home, so to come away with a point was a good result. After last year’s 3-0 surrender, it shows just how far we have progressed. It’s Arsenal next week – but I am not sure we have progressed enough for that one.

WHEN news filtered through to the travelling Stokies that Wilko had kept his place we were in full voice from the start of a match I hoped we could win.
The Rovers keeper pulled off a couple of great saves and, added to poor finishing by our players, it ensured the goal eluded us.
Without sounding too biased, Rovers had a few chances of their own, but we missed the easier opportunities, as more chances went begging through out the second half.
All in all, I enjoyed the game. The only thing that spoiled it was the few Stoke fans who started to chant about Sam Allardyce’s health problems. I’ve got everything crossed for next week – I’d take a draw now.
