SIX Stoke City fans have lodged official complaints with Greater Manchester Police over their treatment after a Potters’ game.

They have complained to police after being herded on and off trains and then escorted through Manchester city centre on Saturday, September 19.

The complaints have emerged as Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed its professional standards department was investigating issues after the Bolton Wanderers match.

It is expected the review of the policing should take a week to complete.
Football Supporters’ Federation chairman and Stoke City fan Malcolm Clarke said: “We are concerned about the accounts of the police behaviour at the station, on trains and in Manchester city centre and we are taking advice on the legality of some of their actions.

“While I believe the new regime in charge of football policing at Greater Manchester Police genuinely wishes to improve the style of policing and relations with Stoke supporters, the only thing which really matters is what happens on the ground.”
