THE sun was shining, the Brit was unusually warm – and it wasn’t long before the place was rocking as stand-in skipper Danny Higgingbottom opened the scoring.
Just before half time “Big Mama” Sidibe made sure that our cup of tea tasted even sweeter as he doubled our lead.
Sir Stan must have been smiling down on Matty Etherington as he topped a great display with a cheeky third goal.
We were then in cruise control as the Blackburn bruisers were soundly beaten.
A 3pm Saturday kick-off and the 300th game of “King” Tony Pulis’s reign – here’s to many more of them both.
DAVID HARRISON, Eaton Park
THIS was a deserved win to continue our unbeaten run of 2010. Surprisingly, Blackburn were clueless for most of the game and by far the worst team to visit the Brit this season.
In contrast to the game against Sunderland last Monday, this was a good performance and we rose above Blackburn’s very physical approach to the game.
Matty Etherington and Ryan Shawcross should be contenders for an England call-up, but everyone played well.
Liam Lawrence, on his return to the team, showed some of his old flair and seemed to grown in confidence as the game went on.
Teams like Blackburn are the ones we have to beat – and they were well beaten by the final whistle.
The same approach and attitude at Wigan tomorrow on Tuesday and we could come away with the spoils. Fingers crossed!
SUE BRYAN, Meir Park
A BLISTERING second-half display from Stoke gave us a deserved three points.
I’m still scratching my head as to how we only scored three times, but we are hitting a terrific run of form and it was a fitting way to celebrate the Wizard of the Dribble.
I hope Sir Stan was watching down and admiring us on Saturday – I’m sure he was.
It was our modern-day touchline magician who put the seal on the afternoon. Matty Etherington’s goal was absolute poetry.
He really must be inching closer to an England call up. I can’t think of many who are better in the Premier League right now.
More of the same play at Wigan tomorrow.
