Players of the 1920's
Trying to get information and perhaps some photographs of my great uncle BOBBY ARCHIBALD. He played for Stoke City between 1925 and 1931 making 262 appearances and scored 37 goals. He has a mention on Wikepedia. He was also known by team mates as Steve due to his resemblence to the champion jockey of the time, Steve Donoghue.
E-mails to Stoke City FC have gone unanswered. Can you help?

my dad played 1955 to 60 - i found a lot of info by visiting the archive museum in hanley - they have old micro film of local papers.
i've collected a lot of memorabillia on ebay or from football memorabillia events.
there are two books the 'encyclopaedia of stoke city' and 'the A to Z of stoke city' which will mention him - they are rare-ish books, but you may find them on ebay or amazon.
when im at home i will look for you.
from the 20's it might be a little more difficult to buy memorabillia - and expensive?

Thank you so much for your help. I bid successfully on ebay. I am thrilled to get a picture of him at last! I have been trying to get a copy of these books via libraries but will try Amazon now. Also plan to visit Hanley when I am in the area. I am very grateful.
Thank you so much for your help. I succesfully bid on ebay for the card.
I am so pleased to have a picture of him at last! I have tried to get these books in the library but no luck. Perhaps someone has a book and could copy the page on Bobby to me?
I will visit Hanley next time I am in the area. Thanks again.
